Monroe County Soil & Water Conservation District
Envirothon
Congratulations to our winning team from 2024: The Harley School Team A! They placed first among 20 teams comprised of 100 students from Brockport High School, Eastridge High School, Greece Arcadia High School, The Harley School, Honeoye Falls-Lima High School, and Webster Thomas High School. Harley School Team A went on to represent Monroe County in the state competition at SUNY Cortland placing 19th out of 41 teams.
The Envirothon is a series of events in which teams of high school students compete by completing hands-on and comprehensive questions on five environmental topics: Aquatics, Current Issue, Forestry, Soils, and Wildlife. Teams also prepare a short oral presentation based off the Current Issue topic each year. Winners at the county level advance to represent their District in the State competition!
Here at the District, we hold a series of workshops each spring to help prepare our local team members for exam topics. Each team member receives a certificate of participation, a t-shirt, and the benefit of developing a high level of environmental awareness. Contact our office with questions about participating in future Envirothon events!
